Vodafone NZ, Sky TV launch OTT service Vodafone TV

Vodafone NZ teamed up with SKY Network Television Ltd. to unveil cloud-based over-the-top service Vodafone TV.

The new platform allows users to access Sky TV, free-to-air channels, Netflix Inc. and other online and app-based entertainment services together in one system, Vodafone NZ said Oct. 17. Vodafone TV subscribers will also be able to watch selected content in 4K resolution as well as via catch-up for up to three days.

Vodafone TV packages will only be available to customers of Vodafone NZ's Unlimited Fibre or FibreX plans. The Vodafone Group Plc unit will reveal plan and pricing details shortly.

Vodafone NZ's OTT partnership with Sky TV comes months after the companies ended their supposed merger, which was rejected by New Zealand's Competition Commission on antitrust grounds.
