Twitter Inc. has acquired London-based artificial intelligence startup Fabula AI Ltd. for an undisclosed sum.
The acquisition is expected to improve Twitter's machine learning expertise and help the company ensure the safety of its users and deal with spam and fake news on the platform, Chief Technology Officer Parag Agrawal said in a June 3 official blog post.
Twitter has also set up a research group, led by Sandeep Pandey, to focus on areas such as natural language processing, reinforcement learning, ML ethics, recommendation systems, and graph deep learning, Agrawal said.
The startup is led by co-founder and Chief Scientist Michael Bronstein and Chief Technologist Federico Monti.
