IntermediateCapital Group Plc offered to buy a stake in Argus Media, musclingin on ongoing bidding for the data and news provider, Sky News reported April 6.
It is not yet clear whether Intermediate Capital intends tofind a partner to join it in buying Argus, a privately owned data provider foroil and other commodities, or sell the stake to its own investors.
The Sky report did not provide the size of the stake, whichis described as "significant." Intermediate Capital declined tocomment.
Various other suitors are reportedly pursuing the Argusstake, including various buyout firms such as Charterhouse and Hellman &Friedman.
Bank of America Merrill Lynch is reportedly overseeing theArgus auction.
