Total U.S. nuclear plant availability recovered slightly early Oct. 10 to 87.41%, up from 87.14% on Oct. 9 and also much higher than the 77.82% reported on the same day a year ago.
Giving a boost to total output was the return of Tennessee Valley Authority's Sequoyah 1 plant in Tennessee. The plant was warming up at 13% early Oct. 10, after being taken offline for undisclosed reasons on Oct. 2. In addition, Dominion Energy Inc.'s North Anna 2 plant in Virginia was restarted and pegged at 9% early Oct. 10 after being taken offline on Sept. 10 for a refueling outage.
Also boosting total supply, the Exelon Corp.'s recently restarted Three Mile Island 1 in Pennsylvania was operating at 54% early Oct. 10, up from 28% on Oct. 9.
As of early Oct. 10, a total of eight units remain offline across the country.
