Fox, Altice strike new carriage deal to avert blackout

Altice USA Inc. and 21st Century Fox Inc. have sealed a new carriage deal for broadcast, Multichannel News reported Oct. 5, citing a Fox statement.

The terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Fox's distributor contract with Altice expired Oct. 1 and the company started alerting the latter's customers that they could lose access to broadcast network, national cable and some regional sports channels.

The current deal has now reportedly prevented a blackout.

Both companies continued to talk even after the deadline and Fox's networks, including FX Network (US) and National Geographic Channel (US) stayed on air, according to the report.

Earlier this month, Altice also reached a carriage agreement with Univision Communications Inc.
