BOC Hong Kong to complete acquisition of Bank of China's Thai unit

BOC Hong Kong (Holdings) Ltd. expects the proposed acquisition of Bank of China Ltd.'s Thailand unit to be completed Jan. 9.

Following a share purchase, Bank of China (Thai) PCL will become a wholly owned subsidiary of BOC Hong Kong.

BOC Hong Kong in June 2016 had agreed to acquire Bank of China's subsidiaries in Thailand and Malaysia as part of plans to take over banking operations from the parent in Southeast Asian countries and become a regional bank.
