James Huffines is retiring from Hilltop Holdings Inc., where he is a board member and the subsidiaries' COO.

The company's website notes that he oversees Hilltop Securities Inc., National Lloyds Insurance Co., and Dallas-based PlainsCapital Bank and PrimeLending a PlainsCapital Co.

The retirement takes effect Dec. 31.
