Vietinbank directors step down

Vietnam JointStock Commercial Bank for Industry & Trade, or Vietinbank, saidthat two of its directors have stepped down, while a new director was appointedto the bank's board.

The company said May 6 that its shareholders approved theresignation of Ph?m Huy Thông and Go Watanabe as directors of the bank.

Ph?m Huy Thông stepped down as he was appointed as CEO ofGlobal Petro Commercial Joint Stock Bank, or GP Bank, in 2015.

Watanabe stepped down from the board at the request ofBank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJLtd. The Japanese lender proposed Yotaro Agari, general manager ofthe bank's Asian and Oceania planning division, as a candidate to fill therole.

The company's shareholders approved Agari's appointment. Histenure in the role is until 2019.
