Murata Manufacturing to acquire haptic technology provider

Electronic parts maker Murata Manufacturing Co. Ltd. agreed to acquire Japan-based Miraisens Inc., a haptic technology solutions provider, to expand its product-base in the sensor and actuator business.

Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Miraisens' haptic technology lets humans perceive various textures and tactile sensations by generating illusions in the brain through specific stimulation patterns on the skin, Japan-based Murata said Dec. 25.
