Sempra Energy on Aug. 10 named Kevin Sagara as chairman and CEO of San Diego Gas & Electric Co., effective Aug. 25.

Sagara has been with Sempra Energy for 22 years and is currently president of Sempra Renewables LLC, a position he has held since 2014. Previously, Sagara was vice president of renewables and corporate development for Sempra Energy's nonutility infrastructure development group.

SDG&E President Scott Drury will retain his role and will report to Sagara.
