Amazon Studios head Roy Price has been suspended over alleged mismanagement and sexual harassment, as well as due to close business ties with movie producer Harvey Weinstein, The Wall Street Journal reported Oct. 12.
Price's suspension comes after Isa Dick Hackett, a producer on Amazon's "The Man in the High Castle," claimed that the Amazon.com Inc. unit's head committed acts of sexual harassment against her in 2015. Hackett, who reported Price's act to Amazon executives, did not receive a response on the investigation, the report said.
Amazon, which is working on two television series with Weinstein Co. LLC, has been criticized by actress Rose McGowan for working with the company previously co-chaired by Harvey Weinstein, who has also been accused of sexually harassing female employees in his company. Weinstein Co. also purchased a script by Price's fiancée, Lila Feinberg, before the conflict-of-interest was revealed and caused the termination of the project, the report said, citing Amazon Studios employees.
Amazon spokesman Craig Berman said that Price is on leave of absence and the company is reviewing its options for its projects with Weinstein.
