Teck Resources Ltd. reached a 24-month wage deal with a union representing about a quarter of the work force at its Quebrada Blanca copper mine in Chile, Reuters reported Dec. 21, citing a company statement.
The deal ends an eight-day strike which kicked off after talks aiming to hammer out a bonus scheme comparable to that of the mine's other two unions failed. The terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
The potential for a strike was flagged in late November, when the previous collective bargaining agreement expired.
