Target names SVP for global inventory management

Target Corp. on Aug. 9 named John Bauer as senior vice president for global inventory management, effective Aug. 20.

In his new role, Bauer will lead ordering, inventory positioning, global trade and domestic transportation operations for the Minneapolis-based retailer. He will report to Arthur Valdez Jr., executive vice president and chief supply officer for Target.

Bauer was previously chief logistics officer for apparel retailer The TJX Cos. Inc., and has also served in supply chain leadership roles for department store operator Kohl's Corp. and coffee giant Starbucks Corp.
