Focus Graphite Inc. said Jan. 24 that an updated resource estimate for its Lac Knife flake graphite property in northeastern Quebec resulted in a 26% increase in measured and indicated resources, in terms of tonnage as compared to the previous estimate.
Measured and indicated resources now total 12.1 million tonnes grading 14.64% graphitic carbon, up from 9.6 million tonnes grading 14.77% Cg. Inferred resources were estimated at 2.3 million tonnes grading 16.20% Cg. The estimate uses a cutoff grade of 3.0% Cg.
The company noted that 2.5 million tonnes of inferred resources were upgraded to the indicated category.
Focus Graphite aims to produce graphite concentrate at Lac Knife and is also investigating the production of value added graphite products including battery-grade spherical graphite.
