StornowayDiamond Corp. said July 15 that the processing of ore has startedat its Renarddiamond project in Quebec.
This marks the start of a processing ramp-up designed toachieve 100% of nameplate plant capacity within nine months.
As of July 13, about 1.0 million tonnes of ore had beenstockpiled, which is sufficient to commence and maintain the planned ramp-up.
Initial production is based on ore sourced directly from theRenard 2-Renard 3 open pit and supplemented from the stockpile as required.
Commercial production at Renard is defined as themaintenance of ore processing for 30 days at 60% of nameplate capacity.
According to Stornoway President and CEO Matt Manson,project execution is ahead of schedule and within budget. The company will nowfocus on efficiently ramping up the process plant, he added.
Stornoway recently started the at Renard project processplant, about eight weeks ahead of construction schedule.
