Southern Power to take majority stake of 102-MW Calif. solar facility

ASouthern Power Co.subsidiary is planning toacquire a 51% stake in the 102-MW Henrietta Solar Project in Kings County,Calif., from a SunPower Corp.subsidiary.

Constructionof the facility startedin June 2015 and is projected to reach commercial operation in October.

Electricitygenerated by the plant will be purchased by PG&E Corp. utility under a20-year power contractthat will end in 2036.

FERC wasasked to approve the proposed transaction by June 9. Southern Power is asubsidiary of Southern Co.(EC16-114)
