Caroline Hartill will depart as executive vice president and chief scientific officer of RTI Surgical Inc.

The company plans to eliminate the position of chief scientific officer after Hartill's departure, which is expected take place Jan. 31.

RTI Surgical and Hartill are currently negotiating a consulting agreement, under which she would provide certain post-departure services.
