Toyota Motor Corp. said its normalized net income for the fiscal second quarter ended Sept. 30 was ¥165.58 per share, an increase of 10.5% from ¥149.79 per share in the year-earlier period.
Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was ¥526.13 billion, an increase of 11.1% from ¥473.46 billion in the year-earlier period.
The normalized profit margin rose to 7.4% from 7.2% in the year-earlier period.
Total revenue climbed 8.4% year over year to ¥7.104 trillion from ¥6.555 trillion, and total operating expenses increased 6.5% year over year to ¥6.276 trillion from ¥5.896 trillion.
Reported net income rose 13.5% from the prior-year period to ¥611.71 billion, or ¥192.51 per share, from ¥539.05 billion, or ¥170.54 per share.
As of Nov. 12, US$1 was equivalent to ¥122.92.
