Nissan Motor Co. Ltd.'s global output increased 0.5% year over year during January with the company producing 464,481 vehicles.
Japan production declined by 32.8% to 65,141 vehicles during the month. Production numbers in other countries were a mixed bag, with China, Spain and Mexico showing clear gains while marked declines were seen in the U.S. and U.K. Production outside Japan increased by 9.4%.
Global sales increased by 4.6% to 470,584 vehicles in January. Sales in the U.S., Canada, Russia and China showed a marked increase for the period. But sales in Europe and Mexico were slightly lower. Sales outside Japan increased by 5.2% for the month.
Total exports from Japan dipped by 47.3% in January. Exports to Europe declined the most at 77% while exports to North America were down by 39.3% along with a 46.9% fall in other regions.
For the nine-month period between April 2017 and January 2018, global production increased by 1.6% to 4,767,899 vehicles. Production outside Japan was up by 2.7% to 3,970,203 vehicles. Global sales for the period were up by 4.3% to 4,764,322 vehicles. Sales outside Japan rose by 3.9% to 4,330,103 vehicles.
