Brazil regulator postpones decision on Bayer's $66B Monsanto deal

A unit of Brazil's competition regulator CADE postponed a decision on Bayer AG's acquisition of Monsanto Co., deferring a final decision to CADE's seven-strong tribunal instead, Reuters reported.

The unit cited anti-trust concerns regarding the $66 billion deal and recommended structural solutions for final approval.

Bayer has also been unable to satisfy the European Commission's competition concerns on the deal. European regulators opened an in-depth investigation into the planned deal and expect to make a decision in late January 2018.
