Hyundai Motor Co. on May 29 introduced a new electric double-decker bus in a bid to help ease traffic congestion and reduce air pollution.
The bus is equipped with a 384 kWh polymer battery, with a maximum driving range of 300 kilometers on a single charge. It is also equipped with a number of safety features such as driver navigation and sensors that can detect imminent collisions and road markings.
In addition, the vehicle can seat up to 70 passengers, nearly twice the capacity of regular buses. It can also be accessed by handicapped and mobility-impaired passengers through its low-floor design and automatic sliding ramp.
The double-decker bus is on display at the Land, Infrastructure and Transport Technology Fair in South Korea, which will run from May 29 to May 31.
