Ericsson AB teamed up with China Mobile Group Shanghai Co. and Chinese bike-sharing service Mobike to test its cellular Internet of Things technology.

The Swedish company said Jan. 25 that the trial used its technology on China Mobile's live network to more accurately locate Mobike's IoT-enabled bicycles.

Performance was also noted in network-challenged areas such as underground parking lots.
