Vectren's Ohio gas utility to file for base rate increase

Vectren Corp. utility Vectren Energy Delivery of Ohio Inc. plans to request an increase in gas delivery prices in its first base rate request filed in more than 10 years with the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio, according to a Feb. 21 news release.

The filing will address only delivery charges, said the company, which submitted a prefiling notice to the PUCO. Residential customers would see an average increase of $7 on their monthly bills under the rate proposal. The average bill was $55 to $60 per month for natural gas services in 2017. The proposal includes the expected benefit of the new federal tax legislation.

Vectren also plans to recover costs for pipeline safety investments. The company has spent about $700 million on gas pipes, regulator stations and metering systems since the last base rate adjustment, Vectren said.

Vectren is an energy utility holding company headquartered in Evansville, Ind.
