France-based broadcaster TV5Monde SA is launching a global subscription-free streaming service in September, Telecompaper reported, citing CEO Yves Bigot's statement to Le Figaro.
The TV5Monde+ service will operate on an ad-supported business model and offer French-language content to registered users.
France Télévisions SA, which owns 49% of TV5Monde, is leading the platform's development. The public broadcaster is working with TF1 Group SA and Groupe M6 for another streaming service, Salto, which is expected to make its debut in the first quarter of 2020.
