Brazilian state-owned oil giant Petróleo Brasileiro SA, or Petrobras, started the process of leasing its LNG Regasification Terminal of Bahia, or TR-BA, located in Salvador, Bahia, as well as a 45-kilometer integrated pipeline, according to a Dec. 9 securities filing.
The move is part of an agreement Petrobras signed with Brazil's antitrust regulator that aims to preserve competitive conditions and open the Brazilian natural gas market by encouraging new players to enter.
TR-BA consists of an inshore terminal with the required facilities to moor a floating storage and regasification unit as well as an LNG supply vessel in a side-by-side configuration. The terminal has a maximum regasification flow rate of 20 million cubic meters per day. The integrated pipeline connects TR-BA to the São Francisco do Conde Pressure Reducing Station and São Sebastião do Passé Flow Control Station delivery points.
