Oklahoma to see big rate hikes on ACA individual marketplace in 2017

The Oklahoma Insurance Department expects health insurancepremiums to increase by an average of 76% for individual coverage through theAffordable Care Act's marketplace in the state.

The increases for individual market plans range from 58% to96%.

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Oklahoma is the only companyoffering plans on the federal exchange in 2017. The insurer requested the ratehikes to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, which will determinethe new rates.

UnitedHealthGroup Inc.'s UnitedHealthcare will exit the state's individual market at the end of2016.
