American Express chairman/CEO to retire

American Express Co.'s board has named Stephen Squeri chairman and CEO, effective Feb. 1, 2018.

Squeri will succeed Kenneth Chenault, who plans to retire. Chenault has served as chairman and CEO since 2001. Squeri has been vice chairman since 2015 and served as group president of the company's global corporate services group before that.
