McDermott granted subcontract for West Africa gas project

McDermott International Inc. was granted a sizable subcontract to fabricate the subsea production system for the Greater Tortue Ahmeyim natural gas project located offshore Mauritania and Senegal, according to an Oct. 24 release.

Work will be done in the company's fabrication facility in Batam, Indonesia, and is expected to begin in the third quarter with completion slated in the third quarter of 2020.

The award follows a previous contract granted by BP PLC to McDermott and Baker Hughes Co. for subsea umbilicals, risers and flowlines and a subsea production system for the Greater Tortue Ahmeyim project.

While no value was disclosed, McDermott defines a sizable contract as being worth between $1 million and $50 million. The contract will be reflected in the company's third-quarter backlog.
