Entergy Louisiana to lower rates, refund $70M to customers

Entergy Louisiana LLC plans to roll out a $70 million refund in January 2017 and implement a $9.4 million rate reduction for most of its customers, as approved by the Louisiana Public Service Commission.

The Entergy Corp. subsidiary overcollected rates from customers for the replacement of steam generators at the Waterford 3 nuclear plant. Only customers residing in areas served by the former Entergy Louisiana before its merger with Entergy Gulf States Louisiana LLC are eligible to get a one-time refund and rate discount. Average residential customers consuming 1,000 kWh will receive a one-time refund of $37.73 in January and will see a 43-cent monthly discount in electric rates.
