Allegheny Technologies Inc. named Robert Wetherbee as president and CEO, effective Jan. 1, 2019, replacing Richard Harshman, who will step down at the end of the year.

Wetherbee has been executive vice president of the company's flat-rolled products group since 2014.

Harshman will continue to serve as Allegheny's executive chairman until his retirement in May 2019. Lead independent director Diane Creel will become chairman, effective immediately after Harshman's departure.
