French consumer confidence drops in February

French consumer confidence in the economy shed 4 points in February after data for January was revised to show no change, data from the National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies showed.

As compared to January, the balance of expectations that inflation will rise during the next 12 months lost 3 points in February to negative 20.

The balance of consumers' opinion regarding the future standard of living worsened, settling at negative 24 in February as opposed to a revised negative 18 of January.

In February, households grew more pessimistic about their future financial situation as the corresponding balance fell to negative 19 from negative 13 in January. Opinion on unemployment stayed stable at 4 points. For the upcoming 12 months, consumers lowered their intentions of making major purchases by 1 point to negative 4.
