French harmonized annual inflation accelerated to 1.6% in the last month of 2019 from 1.2% in November 2019, according to provisional data from the country's National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies.

In monthly terms, harmonized inflation was 0.5% in December 2019, compared with 0.1% in the prior month.

The non-harmonized annual consumer price inflation provisionally accelerated to 1.4% in December 2019 from 1.0% in the previous month.

Final data will be released Jan. 15.
