Subaru fiscal Q2 profit climbs 75.6% YOY

Subaru Co. Ltd. said its normalized net income for the fiscal second quarter ended Aug. 31 was ¥80.19 per share, an increase of 79.0% from ¥44.80 per share in the year-earlier period.

Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was ¥49.4 million, a gain of 75.6% from ¥28.1 million in the year-earlier period.

The normalized profit margin rose to 5.1% from 2.9% in the year-earlier period.

Total revenue rose on an annual basis to ¥976.0 million from ¥965.0 million, and total operating expenses decreased year over year to ¥900.0 million from ¥921.0 million.

Reported net income rose on an annual basis to ¥59.0 million, or ¥95.83 per share, from ¥24.0 million, or ¥38.23 per share.

As of Oct. 10, US$1 was equivalent to ¥107.98.
