Lundin Law launches lawsuit against BHP Billiton over Samarco

Lundin Law PC filed a class-action lawsuit against 's ASX-listed entityBHP Billiton Ltd., followingthe firm's investigationrelating to alleged false and misleading statements issued by the company despiteknowledge of the "dangerous condition" at the Samarco iron ore mine in Brazil, according to anApril 7 press release.

A dam burst at the mine in November 2015, resulting in the deathof 19 people. Samarco Mineração SA,a joint venture by Brazil's Vale SAand BHP Billiton, would need to payapproximately US$6.2 billion for damages for the disaster.

Lundin Law urged investors who had acquired shares in BHP betweenSept. 25, 2014, and Nov. 30, 2015, with losses exceeding US$100,000 to contact thefirm.
