Teck Resources Ltd. has been in discussions with Anglo American Plc regarding the sharing of port infrastructure in Chile in an effort to cut costs, according to a Jan. 23 Reuters report.
The two companies are planning to build ports just 5 kilometers apart to support Teck's Quebrada Blanca copper mine and Anglo's Collahuasi copper mine.
Teck CEO Don Lindsay said both mines are looking at expansion, and sharing infrastructure would help reduce costs for both companies as well as reduce their environmental footprint.
