National Grid to start underground pipe work at Fields Point liquefaction

National Grid LNG LLC plans to start underground piping construction on Sept. 30 at the Fields Point liquefaction project in Rhode Island, the company told the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission in a Sept. 13 notice.

The planned installation includes underground fire water piping, underground fuel gas piping and above-ground deluge valves.

FERC gave National Grid LNG permission on July 1 to start installing underground pipes. The liquefaction project, which the company applied for in April 2016, got FERC authorization on October 2018, and in November 2018, National Grid LNG filed its implementation plan with the regulator. It is this implementation plan work that the company plans to start in late September. (FERC docket CP16-121)
