Khyber Tobacco Co. Ltd. said its normalized net income for the fiscal third quarter ended March 31 was a loss of 60 Pakistani paisa per share, compared with 6.76 rupees per share in the year-earlier period.
Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was a loss of 2.8 million rupees, compared with income of 32.5 million rupees in the year-earlier period.
The normalized profit margin fell to negative 2.7% from 14.3% in the year-earlier period.
Total revenue decreased 53.7% on an annual basis to 105.5 million rupees from 227.8 million rupees, and total operating expenses fell 37.4% on an annual basis to 109.8 million rupees from 175.6 million rupees.
Reported net income came to a loss of 258,890 rupees, or a loss of 6 paisa per share, compared to income of 56.2 million rupees, or 11.70 rupees per share, in the year-earlier period.
As of April 29, US$1 was equivalent to 101.72 Pakistani rupees.
