Canadian Solar commissions 60-MW Calif. solar facility serving LADWP

Canadian SolarInc. started commercial operations at the 60-MW solar photovoltaicproject in Kern County, Calif.

Canadian Solar said in a Sept. 29 news release that it alsobuilt a two-mile transmission line to connect the project to the 's Barren Ridge switching station.

The project, developed by Canadian Solar unit , will sellits output to the LADWP under a 20-year contract. Barren Ridge is intended tohelp the LADWP reach its goal of 50% renewables by 2030.

Rabobank led a lender club providing $115 million ofconstruction debt, a tax equity bridge loan and a term loan option tofinance constructionof the project.
