Q1 credit demand drops in Norway, finds central bank survey

The latest quarterly Norges Bank survey of Norwegian bank lending found thatcredit demand from households and nonfinancial enterprises was slightly down inthe first quarter from the fourth quarter of 2015.

The results of the survey, which polled Norway's ninelargest banks, showed that margins on lending to households were lower in thefirst quarter and are expected to decline further in the second quarter.However, banks reported a quarterly uptick in their margins on corporatelending, a trend they expect to continue in the second quarter.
