ThePakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority bannedall Indian TV channels from being broadcast in the country, The Times of India reported Oct. 1.
PEMRA saidit will employ strict measures if TV networks and distribution companies inPakistan have not implemented the ban after Oct. 15, according to the report.
The action cameafter a Sept. 29 decision by the Indian Motion Picture Producers Association toban Pakistani artists and technicians from working in India. It was intended toprotest the Sept. 19 attack in the Indian town of Uri, near the de facto borderwith Pakistan, that killed 19 soldiers, the report said.
Pakistanicinemas, meanwhile, have stopped screening Indian films in response to theIMPPA ban.
