Test run at Mexus Gold's Santa Elena mine produces less gold than expected

Mexus Gold US said Feb. 16 that MarMar Holdings, the operating partner of its MexusGold SA de CV unit, produced 8.2 ounces of gold in a test run at the Santa Elena mine in Mexico, which was lower than expected.

Mexus believes that MarMar's head engineer introduced chemicals to the heap leach pad that made gold recovery difficult, and the company brought in a new engineer who is making adjustments.

The company also reported that a VAT gold recovery system is under construction in California and is expected to be completed and shipped to its Ures gold-silver property in Mexico within a week.

Mexus Gold expects the system to produce 32 ounces of gold per week at a cost of US$150/oz, with plans to add another tank once the initial system is up and running.
