Brown & Brown Inc. reported third-quarter organic revenue growth of 3.4%, up from the previous quarter's rate of 1.6%.

Net income was $75.9 million, or 53 cents per share, compared with $71.4 million, or 50 cents per share, in the year-ago period. Adjusted earnings per share were 53 cents, up slightly from 52 cents in the third quarter of 2016.

The S&P Capital IQ consensus normalized EPS estimate for the quarter was 87 cents.

Total third-quarter revenues were $475.6 million, an increase from $462.3 million in the prior-year quarter.
