Delaware approves regulation allowing appraisal of damaged vehicles with digital imagery

The Delaware Department of Insurance approved a regulatory changeto allow auto insurance companies to prepare appraisals or repair estimates withphotos, videos or electronically transmitted digital imagery of damaged vehicles,according to an amendment published May 1 in the state Register of Regulations.

If the owner of the vehicle is not satisfied with an appraisalbased on media or electronic means, the owner can require an appraisal by personalinspection.

The change is to become effective 10 days after its publicationas a final regulation.
