PJSC Alrosa received the first diamonds from the Verkhne-Munskoe deposit in Russia's Sakha Republic on Dec. 25.
The company said Dec. 28 that it removed 75 tons of diamondiferous ore from Verkhnyaya Muna for the trial processing at processing plant No. 12.
Alrosa noted that the development of processing technology is required to prepare for the commercial launch of the deposit, which is scheduled for 2018.
The next batch of ore from the Verkhne-Munskoe deposit, 250 tons of ore and 50 tons of diamond-bearing sands, will arrive at the processing plant in the fourth quarter of 2018 as part of the commercial development of the deposit.
