Fox Entertainment buys animation house behind 'Bob's Burgers'

Fox Entertainment Group Inc. has acquired Bento Box Entertainment LLC, the animation house behind "Bob's Burgers" and other animated shows on FOX (US).

While financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, a report by The Wall Street Journal cited a source to indicate that the acquisition is valued at less than $50 million.

Bento Box will operate as a stand-alone entity under the FOX Entertainment banner and produce content for all platforms, according to an Aug. 6 news release. The animation studio will continue to be led by its current leadership team, including co-founders CEO Scott Greenberg and Joel Kuwahara, president of production, and other senior executives.

Bento Box's kids and family investment, Sutikki, and its related assets, are not part of the acquisition.

Fox Entertainment is a division of Fox Corp.
