FERC clears Dominion Energy's sale of 15-MW fuel cell facility

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission on Dec. 20 approved Dominion Energy Inc.'s proposed sale of the nearly 15-MW Dominion Bridgeport Fuel Cell facility in Connecticut to FuelCell Energy Inc.

The project, located in Bridgeport, Conn., consists of five fuel cell power plants manufactured by FuelCell Energy. In December 2013, FuelCell developed, constructed and commissioned the Bridgeport fuel cell park and since then has operated and maintained the project for Dominion Energy.

FuelCell intends to finance the $36.6 million deal with third-party financing and $15 million of restricted cash on hand linked to the project. (FERC docket EC19-22)
