Banco de Chile system failure caused by computer virus

Banco de Chile said a system failure that hit the bank May 24 was due to a computer virus, according to a report by Diario Financiero.

The bank was reportedly still working with international emergency advisers to restore systems on May 28.

In a statement on May 24, Banco de Chile said it detected a failure in some of its branches and telephone systems which prompted it to activate a contingency protocol, but that products and transactions had not been affected.
