Moody's on June 8 assigned counterparty risk ratings to 18 Spanish banks.
The agency assigned to Banco Santander SA, Santander Consumer Finance SA and Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria SA long- and short-term local- and foreign-currency counterparty risk ratings of A2/P-1 and to Banco Popular Español SA long- and short-term local-currency counterparty risk ratings of A2/P-1.
At the same time, the agency assigned Baa1/P-2 long- and short-term local-currency counterparty risk ratings to CaixaBank SA and Bankia SA, and Baa1/P-2 long- and short-term local- and foreign-currency counterparty risk ratings to Banco de Sabadell SA.
The agency assigned long- and short-term local-currency counterparty risk ratings of A3/P-2 to Bankinter SA, Baa1/P-2 to Kutxabank SA, Baa2/P-2 to Unicaja Banco SA, Ba2/NP to Ibercaja Banco SA, Ba1/NP to ABANCA Corporación Bancaria SA, Ba3/NP to Liberbank SA, A2/P-1 to Banca March SA, A3/P-2 to Caja Rural de Navarra SCC, Baa1/P-2 to Cecabank SA, Baa1/P-2 to Banco Cooperativo Español SA and A3/P-2 to Bankoa SA.
The ratings reflect the agency's opinion of the banks' abilities to honor the uncollateralized portion of nondebt counterparty financial liabilities and expected financial losses if the liabilities are not honored.
