GE Renewable Energy to supply battery system for Australian solar project

GE Renewable Energy received a contract to supply and integrate an energy storage system for the 200-MW Solar River project in Australia.

The 100-MW, three-hour battery storage system, called the Reservoir, will be able to deliver almost 300 MWh of storage capacity, according to a Sept. 19 news release.

Stage 1 of the Solar River project is expected to generate electricity by early 2021. The project aims to supply reliable renewable energy to power 90,000 South Australian homes.

GE Renewable Energy is a unit of General Electric Co.
