Liberty Tax Inc. said in an SEC filing dated June 7 that Carr Riggs & Ingram LLC resigned as the company's independent registered public accounting firm, effective June 5.
The Virginia-based tax preparation company said CRI's decision was not recommended or approved by its audit committee or the company's board.
Liberty Tax appointed CRI in April, a few months after KPMG LLP resigned as its independent accounting firm.
The company noted that CRI did not complete any audits of the company's financial statements, so it did not issue an adverse opinion or disclaimer of opinion, and that no report was qualified or modified.
It added that it had no disagreements with CRI on accounting principles or practices, financial statement disclosure or auditing scope or procedure.
Liberty Tax has started the search for a new independent accountant, according to the filing.
